BUILDING AND GROUNDS COMMITTEE
Bob Raymond – Chairman

Here’s to a happy and prosperous New Year to all. So far it has been quite the cold and windy start. I sit and watch the occasional intrepid snowmobilers from my kitchen window as they glide by. I choose to stay in the house and stay warm, watch the Outdoor Channel and only venture out to go to the store or to check the Club grounds, of which the driveways have been nicely plowed by Ben Fullerton after each snow, which has been light and fluffy and there is no problem with access. The ramp to the shooting shed could be shoveled by those visiting the shooting shed using the shovel provided if anyone so desires. I shovel to all the door of the shed to swing open for access to the inside. The accumulation of cardboard boxes from the trap clays and ammo usage has been flattened and removed to my dumpster. Here again help from those using the facility is appreciated. Note the sign on the wall. The trash and cardboard when flattened takes up minimal space in the dumpster, it would take less if those using the facility would remove a share of the trash. The 2 trash barrels containing fired shot shell hulls are full to the top and a third barrel has been added. What happened to those who reload their own shot shells? Anyone is invited to take the hulls for reuse or to the dump, as I do not have a dump sticker. The “brass” bucket gets emptied thank to recyclers. Thanks to all who pickup their brass and sweep the floor of the shed, but please put the brass in the “brass” bucket instead of sweeping it off onto the ground in front of the shooting tables. THINK RECYCLE. The shooting shed is neat and tidy. The target frames are in good condition and it is apparent from the ankle deep tracks in the snow to the target frames that the rifle and pistol shooting has tapered off somewhat due to the weather conditions.

The clubhouse (presently without a heating system) is no warmer that a refrigerator, even with an electric heater running to warm it up, for an on-site meeting to be held. As a result, for the rest of the winter the BOD and Membership meetings will be held in a heated building such as the Public Safety Building or Buckey’s, as available. A notice, as to where, will be posted at the gate to the club, for the events if other than on-site.

In regard to the 3D archery course mentioned in the last newsletter, to date only 2 members have shown an interest in rebuilding the old course. This was disappointing, to say the least, but we still have our tower, target house and range that can be made more use of in the future. Anyone for an archery league?

The burn pile – too windy, too cold and no help are among the excuses that come to mind for its existence.

In closing, remember that volunteers do all maintenance and help is greatly appreciated and needed when weather permits. Club dues for 2010 are due by March 31st. We aim to please, your aim will help and it is your club.
