Winter 2010 Newsletter
PRESIDENT BART’S FIRST QUARTER MESSAGE:
Well I don’t know if I’m getting old or the winters are getting longer. However you’d never know by the number of people using the range. I’ve been over several times and really enjoy seeing many of our old members as well as the new ones making use of the facility.
quarter newsletter.I’d like EVERYONE to hold onto the date: May 1st. Hurry, Hurry, the First of May! (Glad to get that out of my system). Seriously, save May 1st for our Annual Banquet at the Suissevale Clubhouse. Tickets will be available later but I want to give you all the “heads up” that we’ve been able to secure a nationally known BBQ chef – Lance Fuher. He is head of the Yahoo BBQ Team and Sanoma Catering. Everyone who was at the banquet two years ago raved about his food. This year his portable smoker will not only produce his famous ribs but also a new chicken dish with his new award winning White BBQ Sauce. Of course the meal will include all the usual fixings. There will also be a cocktail hour, a great speaker and raffles. More info will be available in the 2nd
To those members living outside of the area, Rick Davis has announced that the Winni Salmon Derby has been cancelled this year. Unfortunately the fish are suffering from over fishing resulting in lack of growth and serious injuries to their eyes, gills and mouths. Although the cancellation will result in a financial setback to the area and a lot of unhappy fishermen and women it’s a smart move so as to let the fish get “back on their feet” so to speak.
I look forward to seeing all our members and guests at the club and at the banquet.
In the mean time – I wish good health and fortune to you and your families.
Bart
WSC EDUCATION COMMITTEE REPORT 1ST QUARTER 2010
It seems that the ink just dried on the last newsletter and here I am writing another!
2010 is shaping up with a host of training opportunities for both our members and the public.
The following is a list of classes planed for the first quarter of 2010:
Note that the dates have not been firmed up so plan on checking the web site and watch for posters displayed at key locations around town and at the range, or call me at
455-4077 for updates. The first quarter is thin due to the weather restricting us from outside activities.
The remaining months will include – Women’s Intro to handguns, NRA Basic Pistol, NRA Basic Shotgun, Hunter Education Firearm and Bow, NH F&G Let’s Go Fishing and perhaps another trap seminar.
If any members would like to become certified in any number of NRA programs please take a look at the NRA’s website to see what is available, where and when or contact me to discuss the possibilities. Limited funding is available for WSC approved courses under the NRA banner and beyond.
As usual, any comments or questions please call me – Will Powers EdComm Chair
603-455-4077
The newsletter is also available for download here.
